 'The Coronation of Our Lady'

This amazing representation by Harry Clarke of the Coronation of Our Lady by her beloved son Jesus is a beautifully designed panel.

Jesus, in crimson robes and seated on an elaborate throne wearing a golden crown, gently places a silver crown on his mother’s bowed head. Her robe and sweeping cloak are in shades of blue and thirteen little onlooking faces of children are placed on the right of the design to give balance and interest.

The Predella : displays The Dormition of Our Lady; 'the falling asleep' surrounded by her family and friends. A monk is placed on the lower right with a tonsured hair style.
