Mr McCarthy was a member of the Custom  & Excise in both states. He and his family moved to Dublin where he continued to work. His last remaining daughter (Dominican Nun) died in the early 2000's and as far as I can recall the family are buried in Ballinrobe graveyard!

Yes there is a relationship with the Clynes in Dublin. Not sure of the Bradley connection.

Editor reply: Thank you for this information Eamonn; we appreciate it.

Did the McCarthy family live here in early 1900?

Editor's reply:

Yes, a McCarthy family had a house opposite Willie Jennings butchers on Bridge Street. They are remembered as visiting this house in the 60's, 70s' and possibly 80's. One of the family was a teacher in Dublin possibly married to a Mr. Clyne and its mentioned that they may have been connected in some way with the Bradley Garage family in Galway.

They probable inherited the house from an earlier McCarthy family member who may have been here in the 1900's.
