St Joseph's National School, Ballinrobe, Co. Mayo

In January 2019 The Ballinrobe History Society teamed up with the Heritage Council’s Bernie Doherty together with St. Joseph’s National School, Ballinrobe, Co. Mayo to run a 5 week programme with their 6th classes.

Their teachers together with the children selected the stained-glass windows of Harry Clarke at the local St. Mary’s church for their project. This being the largest collection of 19 panels by the artist in Ireland.

In teams of 2 or 3 children they studied the architecture, art & designs and the history of their favourite window and created drawings on location recording information about their work.

The results will be available for viewing by other schools both at home in Ireland and worldwide through their preparing the work and uploading it to the www.historicalballinrobe.com website.

Well done to all the children for participating and the varied and excellent work they produced.
