  • To all concerned reading the Walsh article! All (8) of Sarah’s children were put in institutions throughout Ireland!

You are now all aware what went on in those places! Marian Walsh (Sarah’s) daughter!

  • I am one of the Walsh’s (Gerry-Gerard), to whom ‘that image’ of ‘mum’ meant soooo much!

It will never be out of sight again, as there are countless copies now, held by all the family, and more!!

Thanks to all who made this HAPPEN!

  • We have now got back from Ballinrobe after finding the grave and putting a plaque up. It turned out to be in the old graveyard.  Dad, aged 89, finally got to honour his promise to his mum, and get to mark the grave at last.

We had an envelope of leaves, collected from the grave when she visited in the imaga above, 50 years ago, and we put the leaves back on the grave.

It was very moving, and we had a Mass said for the dead of the Feeney and Philbin families.

We couldn’t have done it without Martin Feeney and Dympna Joyce and most remarkable thing, was that in old photos we took over, a picture of one our family was discovered that meant so much to a family that had never seen her.  The picture was of Sarah Walsh ( nee Feeney) who had four of her children put into care, and they have spent 50 years looking for a photo of her and without knowing it, we had one. It was a photo of Sarah with her brothers and sisters taken in 1934/5 when she looks about 12.

If you have a photo of her, do let us know. Remarkable story.
