Growing up in Ballinrobe Patricia Roberts (nee McDonnell) who was a student at the local Convent of Mercy School, attended the July Fair at Cornmarket, Ballinrobe, Co. Mayo with her father Jim McDonnell. They lived at Knockroe, about a mile and a half outside the town on the Kilmaine Road.
On that occasion Patricia and her Dad, who was 50 years old at that time, was asked by an American tourist for permission to take a photo of “our herd” which included Shorthorn (reddish colour) and Angus (black) cattle.
The tourist said that on return to the USA she would send me a copy of the photo, which I now share with you. Regards, Patricia
