Request for Help on the IRA, 1921

Hello Averil,

I have a question that you might be able to help with … in February 1921, a group of IRA volunteers were rounded up in Partry and taken to Ballinrobe, then to Galway.

Do you have any idea where records might be found from Ballinrobe military barracks or to what prison in Galway the IRA volunteers would have been taken in 1921?

I checked records of Galway jail on FindMyPast but they are missing for Mar-May 1921 and in any case there doesn’t seem to be any prisoners being sent there for politically motivated offences.

I am trying to find out the names of the Partry IRA volunteers that were arrested.

Any ideas?

Thanks, Michael Lang, Tourmakeady
