Ballinrobe, Co Mayo - Historic Calendar 2016
Now available for sale in local shops or directly by post to your door
By Averil Staunton
"A little piece of Ballinrobe for the whole year" says one delighted customer who goes on to say "I send a calendar to my family abroad and also have one for myself, as it has room to write notes, appointmentshas and has the bank holidays listed too; I find it very useful".
The cover is of St. Mary's Church of Ireland in Ballinrobe, Co. Mayo in celebration of its 20th birthday as a local library in 2016 - scroll down page to see images of calendar.
One shopkeeper suggests that "people become Ballinrobe Ambassadors" when they choose one for friends and family. Its great to see people appreciating their "own place".
The calendar, which is great value and packed with photographs, retails for €6.95.
Postage for one copy within Ireland is €1.70 and two copies €3.70. The worldwide cost is €3.70 for one copy and €4.90 for two.
Why not send one to a friend for Christmas and the New Year!
Non Ballinrobe residents
It may be easier for our non-Ballinrobe-resident supporters who wish to purchase calendars to make a donation to our site;
if you go to http://bit.ly/1OVrxOM and make a donation in Euro [through PayPal] for whatever number of calendars plus postage that you wish to buy, I will receive notice and will forward you whatever you would like.
Just let me have your name or the name and address of whoever you are sending a gift to and I will post by return.
There is a discount for five copies or more.
Some confusion arose other years with the postage required for overseas mail and this year we have made the calendars lighter, so that the costs are not too high.

Some of you will notice the newer address as our old e-mail address was hacked. This one has more security built in
Work to date in promoting the history of Ballinrobe
The Ballinrobe Archaeological & Historical Society have operated their very successful website, networked with the National Museum of Ireland for over six years, published two books, many free information leaflets and created the information boards in vacant shop windows around Ballinrobe. We are now planning a new project for Ballinrobe. All this work is voluntary.
The 2016 project
The Courthouse built c 1752 has been vacant for over ten years and we would like to investigate the possibility of using it on behalf of the Ballinrobe community and tourists to the area as a Heritage/History Hub. This would increase the footfall of people to this very historic town; create employment and an opportunity for small artisans to promote their work.
Profits from sale of calendar
All proceeds from this calendar will go towards a feasibility survey of the building. Mayo County Council, the owners, has been very positive with current plans. We would appreciate you support and any suggestions would be welcome at ballinrobemuseum@gmail.com
